He was predeceased by: his spouse Greta Wierda (Banga); his parents, Lieuwe Wijbe Wierda and Lijsbeth (Nicolay); and his siblings, Enne Wierda, Ijsbrand Wierda, Frouwkje Krottje, Rensje Nijboer of Vries and Trijntje Nijboer.
He is survived by: his significant other Dorothy Fielding; his children, Linda Fledderus (Alan), Nancy West (Charles) and Andrew Wierda (Lynn); his grandchildren, Patrick Fledderus, Tracy Fledderus, Kurtis Wierda and Kristen Wierda; his siblings, Johannes Wierda (Sopha), Harmke Kloosterman (Wiebren) and Jan Wierda (Marijke); and his brother-in-law Jan Nijboer.
