Though Maria may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, her essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
She was predeceased by: her husband Manuel Viana Custodio. She is survived by: her sibling João; her children, Elizabeth (Roberto), Sandra (Paul) and John (Wendy); and her siblings, Graça, Estrela and José. She is also survived by her extended family, relatives and many friends.
