He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Gabriel Castanheiro and Cyriaca Marie; his grandparents, Francis, Philomena and Cash; and also Adrian (Donna).

He is survived by: his siblings, Margaret (late Stafford), Bernard (late Yvonne Tat), Andrew (Mitzie) and Rozalind (Mark); his children, Neil, Rose, Graham (Patricia) and Rolf (Monika); his grandchildren, Alexander, Christian, Melina, Aidan and Nathan; and his uncle Lucas. He is also survived by uncle to his dearly held nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Covenant House and Guyana Christian Charities or a charity of your choice in memory of Joseph Anthony Castanheiro will be appreciated by the family.

“My wife Lorna joins me in sending sincere sympathy to Anne, Joe's children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and other family members. I taught Joe Latin and Mathematics at St. Stanislaus College in Georgetown, Guyana, from 1951 to 1954 when I left to enter upon another career. I remember Joe as a good student and athlete, cricketer and footballer. He was always well behaved and respectful - I never had to order any ferulas for him. Requiescat In Pace. Vibert Lampkin”
