He was predeceased by: his wife Joan Thomas. He is survived by: his daughters, Denise Schweigert (Darrell) and Michele Bolton; his stepchildren, Nigel Thomas (Dale), Derek Thomas and Glenn Thomas (Keith); his grandchildren, Chantelle Lemire, Brandon Lemire and Tyler Bolton; and his great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Milo, Teddy and Ryelynn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
