He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Catherine Tosh (Scott), Monelle Riopel (Jordan Corbiere-Badgley) and Richard Riopel; his grandsons, Troy and Brady Wood; his siblings, Renée Perron (Denis), Rejeanne Riopel and Rachelle Nault (Alphonse); and his parents, Roger Riopel and Rita. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
