He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Slaney and Louisa Slaney; his wife Janet Slaney; his siblings, Geoff (Maureen), Eric (Mabel) and Rita Davis (Joe); his siblings-in-law, Bill North, John Wheat, Chris Riding, Elizabeth Wilson, Carol Wheat, Josie Riding and Jean North; his son-in-law Mcpl S. Blair Cory; and his parents-in-law, Wilfred and Doris North.

He is survived by: his brothers-in-law, John North (Anthea) and Jeff North (Louise); his nieces and nephews, Margaret, Jean, Sharon, Martin, Joanne, Nicola, James, Jane, Rachel, Sarah, Laura and Daniel; his grandchildren, Chad (Rachel), Shauna (Jason), Kirsten (Dylan), Andrew (Victoria) and Spencer (Emma Chapelle); his great grandchildren, Erin, Leia and Remeny; and also Brian Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alan can be made to the Sarnia and District Humane Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
