He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Geysens and Irma Geysens; his brothers, Gaston Geysens (Maria) and Roger Geysens (Anita); and his siblings-in-law, Lieven Verhaeghe (Yvonne), Omar Caerels (Agnes), Mecheal Lisabeth (Laurette) and Agnes Caerels.
He is survived by: his wife Jeanette (Denys); his daughters, Joanne Barta (Simon), Christine Poirier (Marc) and Carolyn Nowe (Harry); his grandchildren, Simon Barta Jr. (Megan), Anthony Barta (Kristen), Marc Paul Poirier (Rebecca), Kyle Nowe (Olivia), Nicole Nowe and Alexis Nowe; his sister Yvonne Verhaeghe; and his sisters-in-law, Maria Geysens, Anita Geysens and Laurette Lisabeth. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
