He was predeceased by: his siblings, Garfield (Mildred Taylor), Douglas (Mary Turnbull), Bryce (Esther Schneller), Bruce (Ruth Moir) and Helen (Donald Rice); his in-laws, Norman Crooker, Clyde Taylor, Bob Smith, Bill Watts, Edith Kydd and Sharon Eller; and his parents, Elmer Pomeroy Smith and Caro Leola Houseworth (Smith).
He is survived by: his wife Marguerite Smith (Williams); his daughters, Sharleen King (Paul) and Jackie Vezina (Marc); his grandchildren, Kalvin Smith (Carla), Nikki Brown (Terry) and Andrew Vezina; his great grandchildren, Owen Vezina, Gracie Best, Gregory, Karlie and Brady Smith; his children, Grant Smith and Judeen Layman; his grandsons, Michael and Scotty Layman; his siblings, Carolyn Taylor (Crooker), Marilyn Smith, Josiah Beckwith (Elizabeth), Keith (Sheila), Alice Watts and Gerald (Shirley); his brother-in-law Doug Lester; his parents-in-law, Gladys Williams (Tisdale) and Norman Williams; and his close friends, Johanna, Randi, Leigh-Anne, Virginia and Kristen.
