He was predeceased by: his parents, Morris and Ethel; his son Darryl; his sister-in-law Carol Hunt; and his siblings, Margaret, Leonard and Chuck.

He is survived by: his wife Debbie Cairns; his son Kevin Cairns; his granddaughter Hailey; his siblings, Shirley Cairns and Ron Hunt (Anita Quigley); his extended family, Chris Shankel and Mike Shankel (Daniela); and his granddaughter Lyla Shankel.
