Walter Sitch Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Walter Sitch (Thunder Bay, Ontario), who passed away on February 14, 2024, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Sitch and Sadie Sitch; his wife Ethel Skog of Finmark; his son Don; and his close friend Eva.

He is survived by: his children, Harry, Russell (Ruth), Terry, Evelyn, Carol (Matt) and David (Jala); his grandchildren, Ryan (Evie), Kim, Elaine and Sarah (Neil); his sister Velma Liddicoat; and his sister-in-law Polly McLean. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.

If friends so desire, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

“So sorry to hear of your loss. I heard many beautiful stories about Walter from my father (Reino Kivisto) and I was happy to finally meet him at the Hograth transitional Unit. I was honored to be able to play him a video of my father's band playing a tune with Reino on the fiddle. The joy in your father's eyes upon hearing the fiddle reminded me of my father when someone would stop to listen or dance to his fiddle playing. Walter will be remembered in my heart ❤️”
