He was predeceased by: his parents, Martti Kujala and Rauha Kujala; his brother Matti Mayry; his sister-in-law Joan; his sister Maija Nason; and his brother-in-law Robert.

He is survived by: his wife Jane; his stepsons, David Achtenberg (Adora), Andrew Achtenberg (Christine) and Mark Achtenberg (Sylvia); his sister Rita Salo (Bill Madole); and his grandchildren, Kameron, Kyle, Karissa, Ethan, Alison and Emerson. He is also survived by married the love of his life, Jane Achtenberg in 1996 and spent many years travelling to various places and travelling to see their beloved grandchildren.
