She was predeceased by: her husband Marton; her parents, Eino Korpela and Auli Korpela; and her brother Markku. She is survived by: her children, Yvette Hinterbrandner (Brian), James (Cindy), John and Ryan (Maki); her grandchildren, Savannah (Samantha), Owen (Gunner), Taylar, Jenna, Logan (Noah) and Marton (Riina); and her sisters, Maria (Pentti), Maire (Donald) and Mirja (Raimo). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Marketta's memory to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation and/or Autism Ontario Thunder Bay Chapter.
