He was predeceased by: his wife Linda MacDonald; his parents, Dorothy Simmons and Stanley Edward Simmons; and his brothers, Richard, Lloyd, Stanley Jr. and Russell.

He is survived by: his children, Sara, Nancy and Leonard Jr.; his siblings, Betty Anne McCauley (Raymond) of Red Rock, Margaret Rose Hashey of Abbotsford and Arthur Simmons of Red Rock, Ontario; and his stepsons, Dave of Thunder Bay, Ontario and Donald (Donny) of Thunder Bay, Ontario. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren.
