Mom was born in Hearst to Edwin and Thelma Johnson and her big sister "Dolly". Mom had 4 siblings born after her: Bob, Teddy and Jean the twins and Shirley. Mom met dad while she was a telephone operator and at the time dad was an OPP Officer in Schreiber. They were married September 5th and moved to Thunder Bay in 1965 with 6 of us, their children.
Mom was the best baker in our neighborhood. Her pies of all varieties, butter tarts and melt in your mouth buns and bread. She loved us with fresh sheets that were lovingly taken off the line even in the winter months. Mom loved bingo with her friend Marge and Wilma and riding the Harley with dad. Her time was spent taking care off the 6 of us and at times other kids we took in, in their time of need.
Mom leaves to mourn her husband Jim, 3 sons: Eddie (Betty, deceased), Jimmy, Laing (Donna), 3 daughters: Cindy Napierala (Peter), Terri DeGagne (Lawrence), Joanie Garrett (Jason) and 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren with one more expected any day. You left a legacy of love mom that lives on in each and everyone of us.
We would like to thank the staff at Hogarth Manor where mom lived her last months of life with special thanks to "Samantha". To the staff on the 5th floor on the Orchid side, you are amazing and we can't thank you enough for all that you did for mom especially in her last days of life. Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life.
