He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Murdock Rosenthal and Joan Rosenthal (O'Neill); his wife Francine Cyr; his daughters, Jennifer (Julie) and Julie (Steve); and his siblings, Raymond (Margaret), Karen, Ron (Cyndy) and Lori. He was also cherished by his nieces and nephews.

“Dear Francine, Jennifer and Julie, I am so sorry for your loss and the loss of a really good person on this planet. I met John when I volunteered for next steps in Alliston and eventually cleaned your parents home in Alliston and did books for Dunn Wright Inc. John was so good to me, My MS affected my work and eventually I moved on. I will never forget his and Francine's kindness to me. I am so glad I met such a wonderful human being.
