He was predeceased by: his parents, John Aloysius and Anna Theresa O'Mara of St. Catharines; his brother James O'Mara; and his siblings-in-law, Violet O'Mara (Winnifred O'Mara C. S. J.) and James Brown (Buster).

He is survived by: his siblings, Sister Mechtilde O, S. J., Marcelline Brown and Eleanor Runge; and his brothers-in-law, Edward Runge, Nashville and Tenn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and numerous friends.

“So many family memories are associated with Bishop John O'Mara ( who we all fondly remember as Monsignor O'Mara) form our days at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Woodbridge First in the store front church and then in our wonderful new church building in Pine Grove. He was such a wonderful support for our parents and all nine of us, their children. He was much admired and loved. Our condolences and prayers are with you, his family.
