He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Stanley Ferguson and Sarah (Sadie Ferguson); and his wife June Ferguson. He is survived by: his children, Gary Ferguson and Karen Ferguson-Hunter (Don); his grandchildren, Zack Gagnon (Eleni), Bethany Veldmeyer, Emma Ferguson and James Ferguson; and his great grandchildren, Margo and Nora.

After retiring he became a volunteer at the Alzheimer's society earning him a well deserved nomination for the citizenship of the year award.
