He was predeceased by: his wife Ruth. He is survived by: his father Allan; his children, Gary Swayze and Leslie Hildebrand (Ken); his grandchildren, April (Todd), Donna (Steve), Kenny, Eric (Meghan) and William; his great grandchildren, Connor, Hannah, Will, Zach, Kevin, Ryan, Dennis and Stephen; his daughter-in-law Jackie Swayze; his brothers, Eugene, Ken, Ron and Lloyd; and also Sabina Grzybowski.

In lieu of flowers donations to Alzheimer's Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by Allan's family.

“I met Allan when I worked at the Real Canadian Super Store. We became really good friends. Allan had such a kind heart and great sense of humour. He loved to talk about the history of St. Catharines. He lived a good life and I will miss him a lot. He was so good to me and a great listener. May he rest in peace. I know he was in a lot of pain with his legs. I wish I had kept in contact more.”

He was the first resident to welcome me when I started at Heatherwood and I remember him showing me his flag and speaking about how he served and his job working on hydro lines. He always had a kind word and a smile and was a pleasure to know. He will be very sadly missed. My heartfelt condolences.”
