He was predeceased by: his son Carl John Stephen; and his parents, William John Leslie and Linda Grace. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia; his sons, Andrew Michael and Mark Raymond (Denise Indira); his grandchildren, Melody, Lauren (Joshua), Jesse, Emily (Keegan), Adam (Darya) and Colin; his great grandchildren, Nylah Grace, Elijah Mark, Kaleb Kalvin and Luke John; and his brother Duff (Linda).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Don Steele's name to the 9th Pickering Scouts Group.
