She was predeceased by: her sister Suzanna Ruth; and her parents, Suzanna and Erik. She is survived by: her godson Samuel Davin Toivonen; her nephew Allan Robert Johannes Toivonen (Bettie Brown); her brother Arnie Olavi (Helen Anne); her grandchildren, Lucca and Lily; her siblings, Anja Toivonen (late Niilo) and Ellen Hull (late Orris); her nephews, Peter Toivonen (Alison), Edward Toivonen (Stella), David Toivonen, Rick Toivonen (Reiki) and Bill Toivonen (Shelia); and her great-nieces and great-nephews, James, Hope, Stephan, Geoffrey, Pikku, Michael, Johannes and Traci.

In Lieu of flowers and donations, Ruth requested acts of love, kindness and good deeds to others.
