He was predeceased by: his parents, Alonzo Butler and Elizabeth Butler; and his siblings, Robert, George, Ted, Dick Butler and Mary Tofflemire.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Louise Butler (Bloom); his children, Brian Butler (Linda) of Dawn Township, Karen Anderson (Tim) of Waterloo and Trudy Rivers (Mark) of Stouffville; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn (D. J.), Melissa, Desmond, Marshall, Branden (Shelby), Aleks, Natasha, Jillian and Graham; his great grandchildren, Cohen and Crew; and his siblings, Bryce Butler of Riverview and Helen McGuire of Petrolia.
