He was predeceased by: his wife Lillian 'Rita'; his siblings, Donald, Malkie, Angus, John Francis, Alex Duncan (A. D.), Jerome, Collie, Margie MacDonald, Mary Janet MacMillan, Rita McClinchey and Cassie Taylor; and his parents, John Andrew and Mary Cassie MacDonnell.
He is survived by: his children, Bernard (Sharon), Gary and Kelly Sutherland (Rob); his grandchildren, Joshua (Becca), Alex, Marshall (Becca), Sam and Maggie; his siblings, Colena MacMillan, Lawrence MacDonell (Charlotte) and Annie MacLellan; his significant other Rita; his brother A. D.; his son Bernie; and also, A. D. and Frances.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The St. Vincent de Paul Society, in memory of Rod.
