He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Bartsch and Edith Bartsch; and his siblings, Olive Reynolds (Harold), Reta Convery (Ralph), Ruby Revell (Wesley), Frankie Snider (Harold), Gerald Bartsch (Carmel), Bernice Irish (Murvell), Freda Veley (Percy), Betty Couch (Dave), Ernest, George, Mildred Hoover (Harold), Ethel Krock (Harold) and Pauline Adams (Henry).

He is survived by: his wife Gladys; his children, Jack Bartsch (Lisa), Cathy Bartsch, Elaina Sunderland (Glenn) and Lorna Lonneberg (Bruce); his grandchildren, Stephanie Cuffling (Dan), Jonathan Bartsch, Kreg Lonneberg (Sarah), Shea Lonneberg, Kyle and Lucus Sunderland; his great grandchildren, Elise and Henry Cuffling; and his sisters-in-law, Margaret Wattam (late Weldon), Jean Freeman (late Cecil) and Maryann Freeman (late Max).
