He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Carol of Sunderland; his children, Laura Koot and Rob (Chantelle) of Sunderland; his grandchildren, Stephanie (Brent), Taylor, Jessica, Jordan, Cole, Luke and John; his great grandchildren, Laughlin and Howard; and his siblings, George, Bruce, Nancy, Elizabeth and Walter Brooks.
