He was predeceased by: his sister Linda Booker; and his parents, Eduardus and Margarette of Smit. He is survived by: his wife Helen of Smit; his children, Terri Buwalda (Mike), Sue Tyson, Bert (Kelly) of Smit and Carol Andrew (Chris); and his siblings, Albert (Carrie) of Smit and Emily of Smit. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
