He was predeceased by: his parents, Adrian Hoof and Theodora Van Hoof (Klomp); his parents-in-law, John and Wilhelmina Van Dyk (Pretti); and his brother-in-law John Van Dyk.

He is survived by: his wife Geraldine; his children, Angela Van Bynen (Brad), David and Shawn; his grandchildren, Andrew (Savannah), Eric Van Bynen, Benno and Stellan Van Hoof; his siblings, Ria Vandendries (Leo), Paul Van Hoof (Julia) and Pat Croeze (Bruce); and his siblings-in-law, Hank Van Dyk (Annie), George Van Dyk (Willy) and Adrian Van Dyk (Wendy). He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

In memory of Ben, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, or to a hospital of one's choice.
