He was predeceased by: his wife Anna Marie; and his sons, Michael Schafer and Mathew Schafer. He is survived by: his daughters, Katherine Vansevenant (Jeff) and Christine Barnard (Derek); his grandchildren, Michaela Vansevenant, Kamden Vansevenant, Kaden Vansevenant, K. C. Barnard, Morgan Barnard and Amber Ferguson; and his great grandchild Joel Ferguson.
