Joe Devin Obituary
Joseph "Joe" Devin passed away peacefully in Southampton less than a week before his 90th birthday. Joe was born to an extra-large family who were a hardy stock of Canadians from France in 1933 in the town of Peribonka, Quebec. Leaving his home at the early age of 14, he worked for much of his life in mining, construction, and as an ironworker. He settled in Bruce County to raise his family in 1970.
Though he never did lose his thick French accent, he was known as a straight-forward talker, and always had an opinion on the latest politicians and political issues, in both Canada and US. In his later years, he loved to shoot the @!#$#! with the local crew at Tim's. And although you may not have fully understood what he said, you eventually understood his point.
He is predeceased by Annette Oakes (former wife), Denise Devin (daughter), Millie Swick (dearest friend). He leaves behind four children, Diane, Doris, Guy and Daniel. Grandchildren Melissa, Ryan, Cayla, Dion, Demi, Drew, Oliver, Ellie, Hannah, Bella, and great grandchildren Hailey, Hannah, Jenna, Caleb and Olivia.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation. A small. Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held on Feb 19, from 1-4pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Southampton. Light refreshments will be served.
