He was predeceased by: his parents, Archibald and Charlotte; his parents-in-law, Albert Beard and Helen Beard; and his brother-in-law Stuart Martin.

He is survived by: his wife Pamela; his children, Bruce (Jennifer), Ian (Rebecca) and Helen Harnden (Jason); his grandchildren, Finley, Nash of Fort Worth, Charlotte, Isla of Keswick, Virginia, Lochlan, Hunter and Southampton; his sister Fay Martin of Dalry; his siblings-in-law, Ron Beard and Liz Beard of Edinburgh; and his nieces and nephews, Janet, Russell, Christine and Lynn.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Saugeen Memorial Hospital, Tolmie Presbyterian Church and the Salvation Army are welcome.
