He was predeceased by: his mother Anissa Nashkewa; his stepgrandmother Lorrie Mandawoub; and his grandfather Carmen Roote. He is survived by: his father Lance Roote; his siblings, Tyler, Curtis (Danis), Bethany (Andrew), Leigha, Emma and Connor; his nieces and nephews, Owen, Anastasia, Anders, Pia and Alora; his grandparents, Lorne Mandawoub, Donna Jackson (Jeff) and Joanne Roote; his aunts and uncles, Kevin Nashkewa, Holly, Colin, Jordan (Becki), Trenedy (Courtney), Sonya and Kevin Roote; and his cousins, Dallas, Shawnessy, Destiny (James), River, Brendan, Cole, Austin, Summer, Kennedy, Jerry, Gaige Nashkewa, Eden, Courage, Lyla, Gaige Roote, Fletcher and Bree.
