We are sad to announce that on February 22, 2021, Joan Mary Harkness (Smithville, Ontario) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband Bob; her sons, Andrew (Karen) and Ian (Shirley); her grandchildren, Tyler (Alex), Laura and Jocelyn; and her great grandchildren, Hudson, Levi and Sophia.

A celebration of life will be held at Barton Stone United Church, 21 Stone Church Road West (at Upper James), Hamilton at a post-Covid future date.

Donations can be made in memory of Joan to Barton Stone United Church.

“Our condolences to Andrew and the whole Harkness family. When Andrew and I would do the Ride to conquer Cancer together, I always remember Bob and Joan waiting on Fennel Ave for us to pass. It is hard losing someone to dementia, watching them disappear a little bit at a time. We are experiencing this now in our own family. Her journey is finally over, and hopefully most of the family’s memories will be of the years past when she and Bob would travel to Europe, or happy family times.”
