He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyla and Arthur; his wife Connie; his grandson Jason (Brandy) of Sudbury; and his siblings, Margaret (late Robert), June (late Jim) and Milston (late Francis).

He is survived by: his sons, Ronald Jr., Charles Mergaert (Karen) of Sault Ste and Donald Mergaert (Stephanie) of Fallbrook, California.; his grandchildren, Latasha (Randall), Melissa (Cory) of Escondido, Jennifer (Taylor) of San Diego, Ryan and Alicia (Ryan) of Sault Ste; his sister Velma (late Bruce); and his close friend Keith. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
