He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley; and his children, Beverly Smith (Robin) and Bobby Jim Starling. He is survived by: his daughter Heather Spears (Norm); his grandchildren, Mark Smith, Laura Smith, Robert Drolet (Aimee) and Spencer Spears (Nicole); his great grandchildren, Preston Drolet, Natasha Drolet, Hermione Drolet and Jack Spears; and his brother Gord Starling.
