He was predeceased by: his former wife Anita Pascottini; and his stepson Joe. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his children, John Jr. (Suzanne) and Anita Paros-Dewar (Mark); his stepson George Kolisnyk (Wendy); and his grandchildren, Brandon Nicholas (Sierra), Vince and Bailey (Travis).
