He was predeceased by: his wife Betty; his grandchild Kassandra; his parents, L. D. MacDonald and Alice Ruth MacDonald; his brother Clayton (Dawn); and his niece Audrey Gaines.

He is survived by: his children, Catherine Hodgkinson, John MacDonald, Dean Buker (Shelly) and Karen Buker (Steve Dore); his grandchildren, Jesse, Brooklyn and Torin; his great grandchildren, Destiny, Adrian and Issabella; his sister Beverly Gaines (Henry); and his nieces and nephews, Robb, Kirk, Lynn MacDonald, Dan and Sharon Franklin.
