He was predeceased by: his parents, Archibald Somers and Isabella Somers; and his brother Douglas. He is survived by: his spouse Jean; his daughters, Jacqueline Blake (late Ron) and Kathleen Stoddart (Scott); his grandchildren, Michael (Sandra), Corrina, Cameron and Jonathon; and his great grandchild James.
