He is survived by: his wife Sara Pennings; his children, Annette James, Bonnie Pennings-Laman, Michelle Gelderblom (William), Marilyn Sommer (Wes) and Jody Luth (Eric); his grandchildren, Nicole (Ben), CJ, Joseph, Jenny, Michael (Justine), Angela, Ben (Leah), Geoff, Jeremy, Rebecca (Mike), Katherine (Maikil), Philip, Rachelle (Mitch), Jaime-Lynn, Jessica, Andrew, Sharyn, Tyler (Caitlin), Ryan (Grace), Jocelyn, Clayton, Dexter, Travis, Keagan, Nadia, Valerie and Brycen; his siblings, Bertha De Jong, John Pennings (Mary), Gary Pennings (Ineke) and Albert Pennings (Annette); and his sister-in-law Gerda Pennings. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
