She was predeceased by: her husband Bruce Bentley; her daughter Vicki Jones (Phil); her grandson Christopher; and her parents, Benny Palmer and Ivy Palmer (Pritchard).

She is survived by: her children, David Bentley, Jacalyn Bentley, Karen Howard (Ron), Julie Ponikvar (John) and Carrie Hambleton (Richard); her grandchildren, Matthew, Bradley, Nicholas, Darryl, Kelly, Katie, Candace, Stacey, Stephanie, Anthony, James, Nathan, Renay and Eric; and her siblings, Madelynne Rawlings (Don), Bernadette "Bunny" Goodman and Patricia Hewitt. She is also survived by cousins and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Arthritis Society.

“I had the blessed to visit Shirley recently and she would always know my name tell funny stories hugged me tightly then cry when I would leave. She would make my day always! Shirley and my mother in law Daphne Ferguson were at reception at Dr Browns office and I couldn’t tell the difference between reception and a good party filled with laughter! Shirley or Crazy Shirley ( I can relate) as she was referred to by a few was a gift to the world! She is in the arms of Jesus Love you Shirley David”
