He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret; his son Roderick George Ferguson; his siblings, Margaret Patterson (late Ivan) and Colin (Joyce); and his parents, Donald A Ferguson and Vera Ferguson (Lewis).

He is survived by: his children, Malcolm Ferguson (Barb), Donald Ferguson (Maureen), Catherine (Katie) and Gutmanis (Art); his grandchildren, Delaney, Annie, Jack Ferguson, Rod, Sam Gutmanis and Grant Ferguson; his siblings-in-law, John Martyn (Sally), Harold Martyn (Patricia), George Martyn (late Patricia) and Marjory Watson (late McKellar); and his son Mac.

“We were very blessed to have known Rod and been a part of the good horses he bred and raced. We had so many good times at the track , at their home , on their boat and in Florida at Payson ( with breakfasts at Crackerbarrel always included) Rod was the definition of a gentleman in every sense of the word and he will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to to know him.
