He was predeceased by: his siblings, Clarence Matthews, Russell Matthews and Irene Matthews; and his parents, Everett Matthews and Annie Matthews (Claridge).
He is survived by: his wife Marian Matthews (Amey); his children, Jonathan Matthews (Teresa), Linda Bentley, Joseph Matthews (Traci) and Valerie Plarina; and his siblings, Dorothy Hamilton, Harry Matthews (Cecile) and Lloyd Matthews. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.
