He was predeceased by: his siblings, Don, Betty, Wayne, Donna, Bob, Margaret and Danny; and his parents, Ernest Cottrell and Ellen Cottrell (Fiveash).
He is survived by: his wife Alice Cottrell (Wall); his children, Darryl Cottrell (Cora), Tina McLachlin (Chris) and Phillip Cottrell (Georgina); his grandchildren, Dominic, Dalton, Katrina, Wesley, Elizabeth, Mackenzie (Brandon) and Alexander; his great grandchildren, Oliver and Madelynn; and his siblings, Judy, Tom, Doug, Glenn and Mary.
