He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Van Lingen; his father George Van Lingen; and his sister Edith Van Lingen. He is survived by: his child Ryan Van Lingen; his mother Joanne Van Lingen (Vanderveen) of St. Thomas; his brother William Van Lingen (Cari) of Nova Scotia; and his niece Zoe Van Lingen.
