He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Russell and Florence Russell (Ross). He is survived by: his wife Anna Russell (McCabe); his sons, Craig (Anchalee), Sean (Marilyn) and James (Belinda); his grandchildren, Brendan, Megan, Neu, Ava, Theodore and Simon; and his sisters, Sherry Parr (Edwin) and Lynda Lewis. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
