He was predeceased by: his former wife Sharon Barton; and his father Lloyd Barton. He is survived by: his wife Nellie; his children, Brandey Smythe (Colin) of Kent Bridge, Brad Barton (Jessica) of Beachburg and Rob Barton (Michele) of Clachan; his mother Velma Barton-Huntington; his brother Kim Barton (Emily); and his siblings-in-law, Adrian Van Opstal, Harry Van Opstal (Bonnie), Liz Wolfe (late Doug), Jim Van Opstal (Darlene), Wayne Van Opstal (Lynn), Maureen Wall and Shelley Wall. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Donations are welcome in Barry's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation or St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH).
