He was predeceased by: his parents, Lena and Alvin; and his sister Vera. He is survived by: his wife Margaret; his children, Anne Meirowski (Mike), Lisa Higgins (late Terry) and Ken Barfoot; his grandchildren, Jessica, Tim, Terry, Stephen and Michael; his great grandchildren, Aiden and Delila; and his sisters, Lois Blair (Jim) and Margaret Walmsley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
