He was predeceased by: his children, John Daniel Hotson (Denise Hotson) of St. Marys and Susan Chambers (Alex); his parents, John A. Hotson and Marjory; and his siblings, Marybel Edye (Donald) and Elizabeth Fairbairn (Tom).

He is survived by: his children, Jim, Mandy Hotson of Fergus, William and Janet Hotson of Avonbank; his grandchildren, Darrell (Crystal), Donald, Christopher, Esmee, Seumas, Jennie, Kayla (Karch) and Johnathan (Tanna); and his great grandchildren, Daniel, Kylie and Nova. He is also survived by friends, neighbours and relatives.
