He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Barton and Velma Barton; and his siblings, Ken Barton (Charlotte), Darlene Adlam (Milford) and Tom Barton (Sally).

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Barton (Small); his children, Paul Barton (Deb), Lisa Barton (Brock), Tim Barton (Jane) and Terry Barton (Janelle); his grandchildren, Andrew, Jessica (Dustan), Quinn, Niamh, Lily, Mark, Elliot Earl, Fiona and Charles; and his siblings, Joyce Sommers (Jim), Ruth Nicholls (Larry) and Mark Barton (Cathy). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
