He was predeceased by: his wife Joyce Axford (Schneider); his son Michael Axford; his brother Maxwell Axford; and his parents, Israel Axford and Geneva Axford.

He is survived by: his children, Geoffrey (Linda) and Terry (Maxine); his grandchildren, Shalimar (Michael), Mitchell (Mallory), Alana Rae and Forrest; his great grandchildren, Israel Sudfelt and Torren Axford; his sisters, Plezzie Ferrier (John) and Sheila Baker (Cyril); and his siblings-in-law, Geraldine Axford, Karl Schneider (Ann) and Walter Schneider (Sue). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
