He was predeceased by: his siblings, Cecil and Marie Hartman; and his brothers-in-law, Karel Vahrmeyer and Dick VanHuis. He is survived by: his children, Andrew, Mike (Heather), Phil (Jessica), Ray, Ben (Rosa) and Hilena Duggan (Andrew); his siblings, Nettie Vahrmeyer, Joanne VanHuis, Tom (Lina), Agnes Smit (Bill) and Mark (Corrie); and his brother-in-law Bill Hartman. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren.
