He was predeceased by: his wife Agnes Jean Buckingham; his mother Helen Buckingham; his brothers, Clifford Buckingham and Francis Buckingham; and his grandson Nash Aitchison.

He is survived by: his children, Laurie Alton (Randy), Brenda Shewfelt (Dale), Tracey Aitchison (Brad) and Michael Buckingham (Leanne); his grandchildren, Kelsie (Ryan), Marlee (Ben), Jamie (Dakota), Logan (Emma), Riley (Matt), Erin (Nathaniel) and Zachary; his great grandchildren, Crew, Harvey, Theodore and Brooks; his brother Kerry Buckingham (Shirley); and his brother-in-law Jim MacKenzie.
